Aldershot Town have strengthened their defensive options by signing left-back Nino Adom-Maliki and centre-back Kiki Oshilaja, according to BBC Sport.
Adom-Maliki joins from National League South club Enfield Town, while Oshilaja arrives from Slough Town, also competing in the division below. Both players step up to the National League with the move to the Shots.
Aldershot play in the National League, the fifth tier of English football and the highest level of the non-league pyramid. Adding experienced defensive cover at this point in the season reflects the demands of competing at that level, where the physical and tactical requirements differ markedly from the tier the two new arrivals have come from.
Enfield Town and Slough Town both operate in the National League South, meaning Adom-Maliki and Oshilaja have each made the step up from regional competition at the sixth tier into the single national division above it. That transition carries weight — the National League is a largely professional or semi-professional environment, and clubs recruiting from the level below often do so on the strength of consistent performances under scrutiny.
The two signings suggest Aldershot's management have identified the full-back and central defensive positions as areas requiring reinforcement. Whether the arrivals are intended to compete for starting places or provide additional options across a congested schedule remains to be seen, but the club now carries greater cover across the back line than it did before the deals were concluded.
