Xabi Alonso has revealed that Mykhailo Mudryk is available for selection against Juventus following his return from a doping ban. Mudryk joined up with Chelsea’s squad in Hong Kong on Monday after resolving his anti-doping disciplinary proceedings with the Football Association (FA).
Speaking to reporters ahead of the pre-season friendly, the Chelsea manager announced that the winger will be available for selection. Alonso said: "We trained yesterday. He came directly from the airport to the hotel. So, yesterday was more about the feelings, more about the emotions, to be back with the players to assess the fitness level. But yes, he could play, maybe 90 minutes too early, but he can be selected. He's selected, so he can play."
As soon as the four-year ban was rescinded, Mudryk, who maintained his innocence throughout the process, jetted off to Hong Kong to meet Alonso and reunite with his teammates.
Till now, he's been a long time training on his own, so that's for sure, it's different, because football is a team game, and he needs to involve his teammates, but he's really professional in that sense, he has done great work, and now it's about going progressively in that process to be back with the team dynamic.
