PSG 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED: Bryan Mbuemo's first-half strike ensured the Premier League side held their own against the champions of Europe. Senegal international Mbaye had put PSG ahead in the second minute, but United responded well and eventually found an equaliser on 32 minutes through the impressive Bryan Mbeumo.
Bryan Mbeumo was on target again as Manchester United battled to a 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in their latest pre-season friendly outing in Gothenburg. Cameroon forward now has three goals in two games as Red Devils test European champions.
Things started badly for Michael Carrick’s side, who conceded in just the second minute on Saturday when Ibrahim Mbaye side-footed home after a cross-goal ball from Dro Fernandez. There was further frustration as Mason Mount went off with an apparent injury in the 20th minute but Bryan Mbeumo drew them level with a low, left-footed shot from inside the box just past the half-hour after persistent work from Amad.
Manchester United have been handed a double injury scare as Mason Mount and Tom Heaton were both forced off against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday. Mount started against the European champions in Gothenburg, but lasted less than 20 minutes. Mount spoke to three members of the medical staff before heading down the tunnel and appeared to be experiencing a problem with his foot. The 27-year-old was able to jog off when his number was shown, suggesting the decision may have been precautionary. MUTV then confirmed that the change was made as a precaution.
Due to injuries, he's failed to play more than 23 Premier League appearances in any of his three seasons since arriving. He's also contributed just five goals in that time. Carrick said of his No7: “I think his versatility is a big strength. “He can play through the middle, he can play in midfield, he can play wide, and he can do so many different roles. And he’s certainly a team player. “He’s a player that I really like, and there’s loads to come from Mason, we’ve just got to give him the time to get fit again and be patient with that, but he’s certainly in a good place right now.”
Early in the second half, 40-year-old goalkeeper Heaton suffered a right hamstring injury while rushing out to make a clearance and was quickly replaced by Dermot Mee. United’s first, second and third-choice goalies are now either injured or unwell.
