Chelsea have confirmed that Trevoh Chalobah has joined Como. football.london understands that the deal is worth around £26million, after the clubs reached a verbal agreement on Monday and announced the transfer this Sunday.
Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m, with a further £5.1m available in add-ons following protracted negotiations.
Chalobah, 27, is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Serie A side several weeks ago. He has spent almost two decades as a Chelsea player, having joined the club as an under-nine. The defender is now 27 years old and is fresh from securing the bronze medal with England at the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking to the official Como website, Chalobah reveals it was the direct contact with former Chelsea teammate Fabregas, now the coach at the Stadio Sinigaglia, that made the move happen. “The call with Cesc was really good, he showed how much he wanted me,” said Chalobah. “Knowing Cesc, obviously, he’s been at Chelsea, and I trained with him when I was younger. Now obviously to play under him will be amazing. For sure, I’ll give it my all. I’m excited for this new journey.”
Fabregas already knew Chalobah from his time at Chelsea, and was impressed by his growth over the years, culminating in a spot with the England squad for the 2026 World Cup. “Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club,” said Fabregas. “He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving. “He gives us strength, speed and personality in defence, as well as the technical quality to build from the back. He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.”
