Arsenal have opened talks with Galatasaray over selling Gabriel Martinelli for a potential club record transfer sale as Mikel Arteta continues to re-shape his squad.

Martinelli, 25, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and lost his spot in the starting XI to Leandro Trossard last season. Additionally, the Gunners will still drive a hard bargain because they have an option to extend Martinelli's contract by a further year (it currently expires in 2027).

However, no deal will be approved until there is progress in the opposite direction and Arsenal secure a left wing signing themselves, having missed out on Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior. Although Trossard has since left to sign for Besiktas, Christos Tzolis has arrived in a £34million move from Club Brugge and the Gunners remain in the market for a new left winger.

New signing Christos Tzolis currently looks to be ahead of Martinelli in the Arsenal pecking order following the sale of Leandro Trossard to Besiktas after registering four goal involvements (three assists, one goal) in four pre-season appearances.
