Cristiano Ronaldo has married his long-time girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez at a civil ceremony in Portugal. On August 11, 2026, the pair revealed on Instagram that they had finally tied the knot, exactly a year on from their engagement.

One of the football star’s representatives told the Mail: “Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were married today in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, and are now officially husband and wife. “The ceremony was a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.” The pair dropped the bombshell in a joint-Instagram post on Tuesday evening which showed golden rings on each of their ring fingers. It was captioned "C❤️G" and surpassed a million likes in a matter of minutes.

The pair’s five children – two of whom are biologically Georgina’s – were all in attendance. Ronaldo, 41, tied the knot just four days prior to his club Al Nassr opening their 2026-27 Saudi Pro League season.

The wedding took place just days after it was believed that they would be tying the knot in Funchal Cathedral - Ronaldo's hometown - leading to thousands of fans gathering outside of the church.

Ronaldo and Georgina’s marriage was a decade in the making, having met at a Gucci shop in Madrid in 2016. The proposal came almost 10 years after they first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where she was working as a sales assistant. Rodriguez, 32, had announced their engagement last year, sharing a picture of her ring on social media with a message which translated: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

Ronaldo spent the summer at the World Cup with Portugal but was left heartbroken when Roberto Martinez's side were eliminated in the round of 16 by eventual winners, Spain. He confirmed during the tournament, during an interview with Morgan, that he and Rodriguez would wed later in the summer. He said: “I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy. I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children — but because she’s the person I love most.”
