Real Betis beat Getafe 1-0 at the Estadio de La Cartuja on Thursday evening, a first-half goal from A. Ezzalzouli enough to secure the points in La Liga's sixth matchday of the regular season.

Ezzalzouli struck on the stroke of half-time — in the 45th minute — to give the hosts the lead, and that advantage proved sufficient to see Real Betis through to the final whistle without reply. The scoreline at the break read 1-0, and it remained that way come the end of ninety minutes.

Getafe's afternoon was compounded in the closing stages when Mario Martín was shown a red card in the 87th minute, reducing the visitors to ten men as the match entered its final moments.

The result means Real Betis sit third in La Liga after six matches played, with five wins and one defeat to their name. They have accumulated 15 points and carry a goal record of 8-6, their recent form reading WWWLW.

Getafe, meanwhile, find themselves in 16th place in the 20-team division, having won just once from their six outings. They have drawn twice and lost three times, collecting five points in total, with a goal record of 3-7 and recent form reading LDDLW. The gap between the two sides in the table stands at ten points.

Real Betis are in the top third of the table following this victory, while Getafe remain in the bottom third.
