Atletico Paranaense host Bahia at Arena da Baixada on Sunday evening in a Serie A Regular Season matchday 28 fixture that carries real weight at the top end of the table. Both sides sit on 46 points after 27 matches, separated only by goal difference in third and fourth place respectively, inside the top third of a 20-team table.

The form picture, however, tells two very different stories. Bahia head into the match on four consecutive wins, collecting 13 points from their last five matches. Their recent run includes victories over RB Bragantino, Internacional and Vitoria, as well as a win over Remo, with only a 3-3 draw against Chapecoense-SC interrupting what has been a strong sequence.

Atletico Paranaense have found consistency harder to come by. Their last five matches have brought just six points, a sequence that includes back-to-back draws either side of a 3-1 defeat to Cruzeiro. A 3-3 draw at Coritiba is their most recent result, meaning they have not won in three matches heading into this one.

The head-to-head record from earlier in the season also favours the visitors. When the two sides met on 1 April 2026, Bahia won 3-0.

With the two clubs level on points and separated by a single position in the Serie A table, the stakes at Arena da Baixada on Sunday are clear to see.
