League One's eighth matchday brings a tight table contest to Adams Park, where Wycombe welcome Reading separated by a single point. Wycombe sit 14th with nine points from seven matches, while Reading occupy eighth place with ten points from six. Reading are in the top third of the 24-team table; Wycombe are mid-table.

Wycombe arrive in decent shape having recorded two consecutive wins. Their last five matches have yielded seven points, including victories away at Wigan and away at Leyton Orient, either side of a 3-3 draw at home to Milton Keynes Dons. The two defeats in that run came against Sheffield Wednesday and Stockport County, the latter a 5-1 loss.

Reading have taken ten points from their last five matches. That run includes a 5-0 home win over Mansfield Town and a 3-1 victory over Blackpool, as well as a more recent 2-0 home win against Notts County. A loss to Cambridge United and a goalless draw at AFC Wimbledon are the only blemishes in that sequence.

The head-to-head record offers no clear edge to either side. The two clubs met at Adams Park in August 2025, drawing 2-2, before Reading won 3-2 when the sides met in February 2026. Goals have not been in short supply between these teams across recent meetings.

Wycombe's goals scored across seven League One matches stands at 11, with 14 conceded. Reading have scored 14 and conceded seven in six outings. Saturday's match at Adams Park, kicking off at 14:00 UTC, presents both sides with the chance to move in the table with just one point between them.
