Seattle Sounders defeated Real Salt Lake 2-0 at Lumen Field on Thursday evening, with both goals arriving after the break in Major League Soccer Regular Season matchday 7.

The first half ended goalless, with neither side able to separate themselves before the interval. It was not until the 48th minute that the deadlock was broken, D. Musovski putting Seattle Sounders ahead shortly after the restart.

A. Rusnák then added a second for the hosts on 73 minutes, putting the result beyond doubt and ensuring Seattle Sounders collected all three points on the night.

The win leaves Seattle Sounders in 10th place in the 30-team MLS table, in the top third of the league. They have played 25 matches this season, recording 8 wins, 8 draws and 9 losses, accumulating 32 points from a goals record of 30 scored and 33 conceded. Their last five results read: win, draw, draw, draw, draw.

Real Salt Lake, meanwhile, sit in 13th place — mid-table in the 30-team division — after 26 matches played. They have won 8, drawn 5 and lost 13 this season, leaving them on 29 points with a goals record of 37 scored and 44 conceded. The gap between the two sides now stands at 3 points. Real Salt Lake's last five results make for difficult reading: loss, loss, loss, loss, draw.
