Sporting Kansas City defeated Houston Dynamo by two goals to nil at Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday, 27 September 2026, with both goals scored before the interval in Major League Soccer Regular Season matchday 27.

André Luiz opened the scoring in the 27th minute to give Sporting Kansas City the lead. C. Harris then doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time in the 45th minute, ensuring the visitors went in two goals to the good at the break.

The half-time score of 0-2 already told the story of the afternoon, and Houston's afternoon was further complicated when H. Herrera was shown a red card in the third minute of first-half added time, reducing the home side to ten men for the entirety of the second half.

The final scoreline remained unchanged, giving Sporting Kansas City all three points. Their recent form reads WLWLL across their past five outings, while Houston's reads LDLWD across the same span.

In the MLS table, which comprises 30 teams, Houston Dynamo sit fourth after 27 matches, with 13 wins, five draws and nine defeats, accumulating 44 points. They are in the top third of the table. Sporting Kansas City, who have played one match fewer, are positioned 15th with six wins, three draws and 17 losses, totalling 21 points and sitting mid-table. The two sides are separated by 23 points in the standings.
