Southampton boss Tonda Eckert has been charged by the FA with three breaches of misconduct following the Spygate scandal. One of those sides was Middlesbrough, who Southampton defeated over two legs in the semi-finals to reach the playoff final.
The FA announced action against the 33-year-old German, who has accepted “full responsibility” for sending club staff to observe training sessions of three opponents, on Wednesday, confirming he is facing three counts of misconduct and has until 28 July to provide responses.
Eckert has until next Tuesday to respond.
Southampton appealed the decision, but the punishments were upheld by a League Arbitration Panel.
