The 40-year-old was one of the heroes of Cape Verde's surprise run to the last-32 stage before they were beaten 3-2 by Argentina after extra-time.

Vozinha is now expected to complete a move to Chile's most successful club Colo Colo, who have won a record 34 league titles. Colo Colo are currently 12 points clear at the top of Chile's Liga de Primera.

The 40-year-old Vozinha became one of the most talked-about players at the World Cup with a string of remarkable saves against top teams such as eventual champions Spain and defending champions Argentina. As well as keeping a clean sheet against Spain and Saudi Arabia, Vozinha made 18 saves across the tournament and outperformed his xG against by 0.9. In that particular match, he was faced with 27 shots, with 16 inside the box, but he ultimately proved immovable.

FIFA announced last week that Vozinha had been named in the World Cup's team of the tournament.

It’s believed Vozinha has penned a contract for 18 months. Now, his salary will be more than doubled, with his new wage of £18,700 seeing him take home nearly 225,000 every year, having completed a transfer after becoming a free agent.
