Arsenal are honing in on a move for Newcastle United captain, Bruno Guimaraes, and plan to complete a deal for the Brazilian central midfielder within a matter of days. According to TEAMtalk, Guimarães has told his representatives that he wants his future resolved within the next week, before he reports back for Newcastle’s pre-season programme. Despite wanting the move, the midfielder is expected to report for training and has no intention of creating a public dispute.
Arsenal are preparing to test the Magpies with an offer of around £70 million and believe a deal could eventually be completed for approximately £80 million. The club reportedly regard Guimarães as being worth at least £100 million and insist Arsenal’s proposed valuation will not be accepted.
Andrea Berta's board are also reportedly prepared to offer at least £70million for the 28-year-old in the coming weeks, with sources additionally informing the publication that three verbal proposals have already been submitted by the North London club. That's despite senior figures on Tyneside insisting that no official approach has been lodged as yet. Under contract until 2028, Newcastle are in no hurry to part with their captain, meaning they can essentially command whatever fee they desire to permit his departure.
