Four Championship managers have been nominated for the division's manager of the month award for April, according to the BBC. Southampton's Tonda Eckert, Coventry City's Frank Lampard, Portsmouth's John Mousinho and Blackburn Rovers' Michael O'Neill make up the shortlist.

The nominations reflect a competitive month across the second tier, with clubs at varying points of the table making their cases through form. Southampton, who have been among the division's leading sides, are represented by Eckert, while Lampard's Coventry have evidently put together a run of results sufficient to draw the attention of the award's selectors.

Mousinho's nomination continues what has been a notable tenure at Portsmouth since the club's return to the Football League and their subsequent push through the divisions. The Hampshire club have re-established themselves in the Championship, and another strong April will only reinforce that trajectory.

O'Neill, meanwhile, has been working to stabilise Blackburn Rovers, a club with considerable Championship history that has endured a more turbulent recent period. His inclusion in the shortlist suggests April brought some reward for whatever work has been done at Ewood Park.

The winner will be announced in due course. With four clubs spanning different ambitions and pressures within the division, the shortlist offers a reasonable cross-section of the Championship's breadth this season.
